Today is Vietnam remembrance day and I wanted to honor my dad and all those who served this day. My dad was not just a soldier alone but being the one who raised me and four other of my brothers and sisters. Dad was a man who really never had an enemy except when he was in the war. He was a very kind and compassionate man, at times he was stern and a good father who took care of all of us.
Dad was born in 1928 in Georgia. He grew up on a farm and learned how to work. He later went into the US Army as a young man and that's where he served in the Koren war as a combat radioman. He was sent to Cuba ready to fight again Socialism and the destruction of the US when the United States was about to go to war over the setting up of Nuclear Warheads pointed at the US. He later served in Vietnam twice was awarded a Silver Star as well, and then came home to retire after 20 years of service to his country.
Later in his years, dad had to deal with the loss of two of his children (Brother and Sister), then his wife (My Mom). Through it all, he remained a soldier, and slowly the disease of Altimzers and dementia took over his body. Through it all, he would share many stories of his life and times in the wars and what he did with me as my sister and I remained by his side as he was sick and alone.
I had to fight with the VA to help him to get his disability with the exposure to Agent Orange, along with many other issues, but he never was given his full disability sadly for all the service in combat operations and the exposure which caused him to get so very sick. I was able to get him to the VA facility in Mobile, Alabama when he was not able to take care of himself. I had to drive each week for 15 hrs to see him and make sure he was ok.
Dad always wanted a new set of teeth. I know he got a new body the Lord promised him as he entered the presence of the Lord.
You are commanded by God to Honor your father and mother. There are over 30 verses throughout the bible on this topic.
The one that comes to my mind is found in Ephesians 6:1-3
1. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2.“Honor your father and mother”.
3.“that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Blessing and Shalom to all the Vets who are battling issues every day still and to those specifically served in Vietnam. In any war as well we are not forgotten.
Please watch this video on YouTube. It will explain all. https://youtu.be/9zE4-LX0wrY. See you one day dad.

Terry. so thankful for your Dads service to this nation. I remeber your struggle getting him into VA, I’m embarrassed how this nation treats its veterans. Very appalling. Heaven will be worth it all. It’s so wonderful he is there. Shalom Rabba
